PURPOSE:To reduce errors in compensation by replacing a signal by another picture element reading a signal of deficient picture element and a signal by four picture element read by read clock before and after 1 clock than a time reading a signal by a deficient picture element with a compensation signal added or subtracted at the fixed ratio. CONSTITUTION:A picture element is provided by four colors, for example, four output lines corresponding to W, Ye, Cy, G color films, composed of so as to read a signal simultaneously with two rows (two picture elements adjacent to each other in the row direction) synchronizing with the read clock. The device is made by establishing compensation signal means 51-62, 71-78, 84-89, 102 and a means 63-70 replacing the deficient picture element with the compensation signal by adding or subtracting such compensation device for image deficiency in picture element by the total of five signals such as a signal by another picture element read simultaneously with the deficient picture element and signals by four picture elements read by a read clock before and after 1 clock than a time reading a signal by the deficient picture element at the preliminarily fixed ratio by the color of the colored filter.
