PURPOSE:To prevent curling by using a support of a polymer having a specified glass transition temp. and by specifying the coefft. of thermal shrinkage of the support in the lateral direction. CONSTITUTION:A support is made of a polymer having >=110 deg.C glass transition temp., and the coefft. of thermal shrinkage of the support in the lateral direction is regulated to 0.1-1.0%. It is preferable that the nonmagnetic support has >=5g/mil tensile strength and >=300kg/mm<2> tensile Young's modulus, and polyimide, polyether imide or polyether sulfone is preferably used as the polymer. One side of the support having a magnetic layer on the other side is brought into contact with a metallic roll heated to 100-200 deg.C for 1-120sec to remove curling.
