Synergistic herbicidal compsn. comprises herbicidally effective amts. of each of N-phosphonomethylglycine (I) or its agriculturally acceptable salt and an aryloxyphenoxy pentanoic acid ester of formula (II) (where A = CH or N; Y = H or Cl; Z = -CH=CH-, -CHOH-CH2-, -CO-CH2- or -CH2CH2-; and R = H or 1-4C opt. branched alkyl). - Pref. wt. ratio (I) (salt):(II) is 0.01:1-50:1 (0.05:1-32:1), esp. 1.1:1-20:1.
