<p>The mono-acetyl salicylate of DL-lysine is made by (a) reacting an aq. soln. of DL-lysine with a stoichiometric amt. of acetyl salicylic acid, purified water, heavy metal sequestrant, e.g. sodium EDTA and miscible organic solvent, e.g. (m)ethanol; (b) adding excess (m)ethanol to crystallise the salt; (c) sepg. the mother liquor by centrifuging; (d) washing the crystals with alcohol; and (e) vacuum drying the crystals to eliminate residues.</p> |
