PURPOSE:To produce a polymeric composite material having excellent electrical conductivity and oxidation-reduction property, by carrying out the electrolytic oxidative polymerization using an electrode coated with an electrolyte-containing polymeric material as the working electrode. CONSTITUTION:A solid ion-conductive solution prepared by adding one or more electrolytes to a solution of a polymeric compound, preferably a solution prepared by dissolving lithium perchlorate in polyethylene glycol or poly(gamma- butyrolactone) is applied to an electrode by casting method, etc. to obtain a working electrode, and an electrolytic oxidative polymerization is carried out. A polymer is formed in the polymeric material coating the electrode to obtain the objective composite material. The amount of the electrolyte is 0.05X10<-3>-50X10<-3>, preferably 0.5X10<-3>-5X10<-3>mol per 1g of the polymeric compound in the solution.
