PURPOSE:An aromatic polyester copolymer suitable as an injection molding material, film, sheet, precision fine structure part, etc., having improved heat stability and molding and processing properties, obtained by subjecting isophthalic acid, terephthalic acid, and a specific dihydric phenolic component to polycondensation. CONSTITUTION:(A) An acid component obtained by blending isophthalic acid with terephthalic acid in a molar ratio of 1:99-99:1 and (B) a dihydric phenolic component obtained by blending (i) a bisphenol shown by the formula I (R<1>-R<4> are H, halogen, etc.; A is O, S, etc.) with (ii) an indane ring-containing dihydric phenolic compound [e.g., 1,3-trimethyl-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-5-indanol, etc.] shown by the formula II (R<5>-R<8> are H, halogen, etc.) in a molar ratio of 1:99-99:1 are subjected to polycondensation, to give the aimed copolymer having 0.2-2.0dl/g logarithmic viscosity in a solution of 5g in 100ml mixed solvent of phenol/tetrachloroethane (weight ratio of 6/4) at 35 deg.C.
