PURPOSE:To improve exhaust gas purification performance, fuel efficiency and drivability in an air-fuel ratio learning control method in which the fed quantity of fuel is determined, by learning a learning compensation quantity when the flow rate reduction control of a fuel pump is not performed. CONSTITUTION:When a learning condition has arisen during the feedback con trol of air-fuel ratio, a learning compensation quantity for eliminating the devia tion in the air-fuel ratio at least in idling is learned. When the feedback control is replaced with open-loop control, at least the learning compensation quantity is used to determine the fed quantity of fuel. The learning compensation quantity is learned as the flow rate reduction control of a fuel pump is not performed. Appropriate control of the air-fuel ratio is thus performed to improve exhaust gas purification performance, fuel efficiency and drivability.
