PURPOSE:To make effective use of waste gases by separating coke furnace gas and the waste gas from a finish heat treatment furnace to a refined gas contg. hydrogen and waste gas and using the respective gases for a gas for finish reduction of iron and steel powder and a gas for combustion heating for a reduction furnace. CONSTITUTION:The coke furnace gas is introduced through a filter 1 and a pretreating device 3 to a gas holder 4. The waste gas from a finishing furnace 6 is introduced through a dust collector 9, a heat exchanger 10 and a cooler 11 to the holder 4 where the gases are uniformly mixed. The gaseous mixture is increased in pressure by a pressure increasing device 14 and is refined by an adsorption removal device 15. The refined gaseous H2-N2 (>=80vol% H2) is contained into a product tank 16 and the off gas is contained in a tank 19. The refined gas of the tank 16 is passed through a dew point adjuster 17 and is preheated in the heat exchanger 10; thereafter the gas is introduced into the furnace 6 where the gas is used as the gas for reduction. On the other hand, the off gas is fed to a radiant tube 20 for heating the body of the furnace 6 and is used for combustion.
