The press is of the type which has a pair of opposed drying bands(1). Adjacent faces of the two bands are brought together locally between pressure rolls(2,5) to form a nip in which an advancing skin is squeezed between the bands. The section above the nip press is equipped with a setting out system. The setting out system comprises skin working mechanisms above and below the skin and extending the full width of the skin. The upper setting out mechanism is as near as possible to the line of nip between the rollers. The lower mechanism is movable from a location upstream to an opposite position beneath the upper mechanism.
