PURPOSE:To manufacture an Al alloy plate for packing having superior strength and deep drawability with high reproducibility by subjecting an Al alloy having a specified composition contg. Mg, Mn, Fe and Cr to heat treatment and rolling under specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:An Al alloy consisting of, by weight, 1-6% Mg, 0.1-2% Mn, <=0.4% Fe+Cr and the balance essentially Al is melted, cast, soaked at >=480 deg.C, and hot rolled. The hot rolled plate is cold rolled as required and is subjected to process annealing at 300-600 deg.C and finish cold rolling at 30-80% draft. An Al alloy plate for packing having superior deep drawability, redrawability and high strength is obtd. An intermetallic compound in the rolled plate accounts for <=3.5% of the surface area. |
