PURPOSE:To decrease the intrusion of settled lead grains into a casting mold in an apparatus for producing a leaded steel by a bottom poured ingot making method by forming a channel for capturing the settled lead grains in the bottom of a runner below a riser. CONSTITUTION:A molten steel 1 is dropped from an insert nozzle 5 in the bottom of a ladle 2 through a top end aperture 3 into a pouring pipe 4 and lead powder is added from a lead adding nozzle 6 adjacent to the aperture 3. The molten steel 1 added with the lead flows through a bottom end aperture 12 and through a runner 11 formed horizontally of runner bricks 8 so as to enter the casting mold 13 through a riser 14 in the bottom of the mold 13. A bulging part 8a is provided downward to the bricks 8 on the immediate upper stream of the riser 14 to form the channel 15. The added lead powder is therefore prevented from melting thoroughly into the molten steel 1 and therefore even if the settled lead 16 is generated in the runner 11, such lead is captured by the channel 15 and the intrusion of such lead into the mold 13 is considerably decreased. The yield after the ingot making is thus improved. |
