PURPOSE:To improve the economic efficiency and the cutting precision by making the thickness of a cutting-edge formation part thinner than that of a band strake and forming the cutting-edge formation part into comb shape. CONSTITUTION:A cutting-edge formation part 2 is formed by cutting the front and back surfaces of a band strake 1 so as to become thinner than the thickness of the band strake 1. Then, a comb-shaped part is formed by forming a number of gaps 3 onto the cutting-edge formation part 2, and the root part 4 of the cutting-edge formation part 2 and the connection part 5 with the root part 4 are formed into circular-arc form. A cutting-edge part 7 is formed by attaching minute diamond grains 6 in one layer onto the surface of the cutting-edge formation part 2 through electroplating. Therefore, the cutting with the less cutting portion of the precious hard substance is permitted, and the life of a band saw can be prolonged.
