PURPOSE:To dry a magnetic recording medium so that magnetic recording liquid is held in an oriented state by adding a ferromagnetic plate material to a conveying means for the magnetic recording medium and providing this conveying means with a magnetic field producing device which orients magnetic powder in a constant direction. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic recording medium A which has the magnetic recording liquid B applied over its base material 4 is applied with a magnetic field by a solenoid 3 when conveyed by a belt conveyor 1 and the magnetic powder 5 mixed with the liquid B is oriented in the travelling direction of the medium A. Even if the medium A leaves the solenoid 3, the belt 2 is magnetized with magnetic force produced by the solenoid 3 and the magnetic force of the belt 2 is applied to the magnetic powder 5 once the magnetic powder is oriented because the belt 2 is made of a ferromagnetic body. Consequently, the magnetic force of the belt 2 and the magnetic force betweent he magnetic powder 5 and belt 2 operate in such a direction that the magnetic powder is attracted toward the belt 2, thereby holding the magnetic powder oriented. The oriented state is maintained until the liquid 5 solidifies to some extent. Therefore, the orientation of the magnetic powder 5 is prevented from being disordered.
