A novel thrust bearing is provided in which a spiral element (10) of a disc shape is loosely interposed between a pair of flat elements (12, 13) one of which (12) is rotatable and the other of which (13) is stationary, the spiral element (10) having a spiral groove pattern on each of the opposite surfaces of the disc in such a manner that the patterns on both of the surfaces are reverse in relation to each other in their spiral direction.
