A chuck for powered hand tools, in particular drilling and/or impact hammers, is proposed in which, to save weight and manufacturing costs, plastic is also to be used for an actuating sleeve (12), which is subjected to high temperatures and greater stress during operation. To this end, the displaceable actuating sleeve (12) is of two-piece design, one sleeve part (13) being made of plastic and the other sleeve part (14) located in the area of particular stress being made of metal. The risk of permanent deformation of the sleeve (12) in the area of its particular stress and thus in the area decisive for its reliable function is thus prevented in an inexpensive and effective manner. <IMAGE>
