In the drive control, a kickdown switch (10) is arranged in the operating cable (8, 15) for the carburettor or the injection pump and switches over in the event of a predetermined longitudinal force limit in the sleeve (15) of the operating cable. The kickdown switch (10) comprises a fixed part (20) and a displaceable part (30) carried on the latter, which is supported by a spring (33) against the fixed part (20). Contact pieces (50, 53) are arranged on the parts (20, 30), which pieces, in the event of a predetermined displacement of the parts (20, 30) achieved after overcoming a detent device (43) against the force of the spring (33), come to act against one another. <IMAGE>
