PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain a stably marbly molding by a method wherein sheet molding compound consisting in laminating and bodying unsaturated polyester resin compositions different in color tone and/or pattern from each other are fed in a mold and molded under direct pressure. CONSTITUTION:Unsaturated polyester resin composition in sheet form is laid on polyethylene film. In addition, reinforcing material such as chopped glass or the like is scattered over the resin composition and at the same time another unsaturated polyester resin composition, the color tone and/or pattern of which is different from those of said resin composition, is continuously and simultaneously laminated to said resin composition and, after that, both the resin compositions are bodied. When both the unsaturated polyester compositions different in color tone and/or pattern from each other are fluidized by the pressure applied thereon during the molding under direct pressure, the compositions do not flow rapidly, because the flow resistances of the compositions are properly large through the bodying up of the compositions, resulting in realizing the proper mixing of the color tone and/or pattern and enabling to industrially and efficiently produce a stably marbly plastic molded part. |
