PURPOSE:To protect data surface of a magnetic disk by constituting the titled device so that a magnetic head can be moved to a CSS area on a magnetic disk when a magnetic disk device is stopped. CONSTITUTION:When operation of the magnetic disk device is stopped and a power source 10 is turned off, a step motor 11 is driven by using the reverse power of a DD motor 12 that rotates the magnetic disk. The step motor 11 is driven on the basis of step pulses S1-S3 to be produced by a step motor phase control circuit 20. Accordingly, even in case the power source 10 is off, causes the magnetic head is moved by a prescribed distance by driving the step motor 11. With such manner, the magnetic head automatically moves by a prescribed distance and moves to the CSS area previously provided on the magnetic disk, thus protecting the data surface of the magnetic disk from being damaged when the magnetic head touches the magnetic disk. |
