PURPOSE:To produce a remarkable effect with respect to the protection of lining refractories by using an oxide flux consisting of specified amounts of calcium oxide, alumina and magnesium oxide. CONSTITUTION:Molten steel is desulfurized with an oxide flux consisting of 31-53wt% calcium oxide, 29-58wt% alumina and 10-25wt% magnesium oxide and having 0.7-1.6 weight ratio between calcium oxide and alumina. The flux may be used in combination with metallic Al, as necessary. |
