MASTER CYLINDER

The master cylinder has a body(2) with an axial bore(3) open at the rear of the body and a reservoir chamber(7). A transverse port(17) in the body opens into the bore and is positioned to the rear of the reservoir chamber. A passageway connects the reservoir chamber with the transverse port. The passageway is defined over at least part of its length along the outer surface of the body(2). A sleeve(22) surrounds the body. The sleeve has a sliding fit on the body and has at least one longitudinal groove(23) on the inner surface defining the passageway. An actuating rod can protrude through the open end of the bore at the rear of the body and is sealed and engaged by the end of the sleeve.
