PURPOSE:The titled highly active catalyst component which can give a stereoregular polymer in high yields, obtained by contacting a fatty acid magnesium salt with a carbonate of Mg, an aromatic dicarboxylic diester and a specified titanium halide. CONSTITUTION:1g of a fatty acid magnesium salt (e.g., magnesium stearate), 1g of a total of a carbonate of Mg and 0.01-10g of a substance containing the same (e.g., hydrotalcite) and 0.01-2g of an aromatic dicarboxylic diester (e.g., dimethyl phthalate) are mixed together, ground and suspended in a hydrocarbon solvent or an organic solvent. The obtained suspension is brought into contact with at least 0.1g of a titanium halide of the formula TiX4 (wherein X is a halogen) at 0-130 deg.C for 5min-100hr to obtain a polymerization catalyst component for olefin polymerization.
