PURPOSE:To carry out the control of culture of aerobic microorganism in a manner to achieve high microbial cell concentration without lowering the activity of the microorganism, by controlling the dissolved oxygen concentration within a specific range, and adding a proper amount of medium when the concentration is increased above a preset level. CONSTITUTION:The dissolved oxygen concentration (DO concentration) in the culture liquid is measured (6), and the measured data is inputted through the dissolved oxygen meter 7 and the I/O board 12 to the computer 13. The signal transmitted to the stirrer 4 and the exhaust gas control valve 14 is varied according to the inputted data. The number of revolution of the stirrer 5, the aeration rate, and the pressure in the culture tank 1 are adjusted, and the DO concentration in the culture liquid is controlled within a specific range by this process. When the DO concentration in the culture liquid is increased beyond the preset range despite of the above controlling efforts, the computer 13 judges that the nutrient source in the medium has been consumed, and a signal is transmitted to the medium pump 3 to transfer a definite amount of medium from the medium tank to the culture tank 1 to maintain the proliferation activity of the microbial cells. |
