Process for the pelletisation of plant seeds

The invention relates to a process for the pelletisation of plant seeds in a fluidised bed. The aim of the invention is to prepare a pelletised seed material which has a defined water content and an optimum shelf life, in which the active compounds are arranged in placed form and which is stably coated. The invention is based on the object of developing a process which permits a high speed of agglomeration and drying of coating material with effective utilisation of the drying potential of the drying agent by means of intensive substance and heat transfer. According to the invention, the seed is fluidised at a defined air rate and temperature, binder-containing liquids are sprayed on in succession and active ingredients in dust form, preferably kaolin, are added. The process is applicable to the pelletisation of plant seeds, preferably sugar beet seed, for use in agriculture and forestry and also in horticulture.
