PURPOSE:To detect straightness of a moving path of a moving body with a detecting signal, by placing on the fixed side member of a machine tool a means for irradiating a ray of straight reference light parallel to a moving path of a moving body and a light position detecting means on the moving body. CONSTITUTION:When a column 4 is located on the RH side of a bed 1, the column 4 is moved to the table side 2 in a condition that a laser beam 9 generated from a laser generator 8 is received by a light position detecting apparatus 10. At this moment when the column 4 has made a straight movement, a light- receiving position of the laser beam 9 of the apparatus 10 is not subjected to change. However, vertical movements of the moving column 4 cause a change of the light-receiving position of the laser beam 9 of the apparatus 10 for detection of the vertical movements of the column 4. Here, when the column 4 is located on the RH side of the bed 1, the m-th light-receiving member 11 receives the laser beam 9 and when the column 4 drops from the wound-be path by DELTAy during the movement, the apparatus 10 receives the laser beam 9 at the b-th member 11. By decreasing an inclination angle theta of the apparatus 10, even a small change can be detected. |
