PURPOSE:To deal easily with many kinds of flat cables using different connectors by forming plural kinds of socket blocks constituted by attaching the sockets adapted to various connectors to respective base plates. CONSTITUTION:To inspect the flat cable, the socket blocks 11a, 11c attached with the sockets adapted to the connectors at both ends of, for example, the flat cable to be inspected are mounted to the socket mounting part 13, 14 of a housing 15 and the number of cores 1a of the flat cable is set with rotary switches SWa, SWb of a circuit 10 for changing over the number of cores. Said number is set to 10 cores when the switches SWa, SWb are changed over to the position (a) and the number is set to 14 cores when said switches are changed over to the position (b). The inspection of the other flat cable 1 is executed simply by changing over the switches SWa, SWb and setting the number of cores by the same procedure.
