PURPOSE:To form a highly reliable liquid crystal light valve provided with a light absorbing film having a large absorbing factor also to light of which wavelength is about 800nm by forming the light absorbing film by a specific material. CONSTITUTION:An organic light absorbing film 3 to be the light absorbing film, a light reflecting film 4 and liquid crystal orientation film 8 are formed successively on a transparent substrate 2, a transparent electrode 6 and a liquid crystal orientation film 8 are formed on a transparent substrate 7 and a liquid crystal material 5 is inserted between the substrates 2, 7 to form the liquid crystal light value. A thin film of an organic material (coloring matter) absorbing semiconductor laser wavelength (-about 800nm) is used for the film 3 and the thickness of the thin film is set up to lambda/4n (lambda is the wavelength of writing semiconductor laser and (n) is a defractive index of the thin film) to constitute a light interference film by combining the film 3 with the light reflecting film 4. Consequently, the liquid crystal valve sharply absorbing the wavelength (-about 800nm) of the semiconductor laser on the basis of the interference effect. |
