DETECTION OF IMAGE CENTER OF ELECTROPHORESIS IMAGE

PURPOSE:To detect the image center of the electrophoresis image of a specimen at any density of the image density by detecting the density profile up to at least the shoulder part in the direction intersecting orthogonally with the migrating direction of said image and determining the image center in accordance with the detected shoulder part. CONSTITUTION:A fine strip-like base 1 on which the electrophoresis image is formed is carried into a transparent vessel 2 filled with a transparent liquid. The top end part is detected by a top end detecting sensor consisting of a light source 5 and a photodetector 6 and the base 1 is then carried into the measuring region formed in the bottom of the vessel 2. The base is scanned by a light source device and a photodetector 19 and the density profile in the direction intersecting orthogonally with the migrating direction of the electrophoresis image is measured. The position S1 of the shoulder part and the density DH of the shoulder part are detected from the profile and the position S2 corresponding to the density half the density difference between the density DH and the density D0 at the reference point is detected. The pulse corresponding to the predetermined distance d0 are applied to the position S2 and the corresponding position S3 is determined as the image center. The image center is thus detected at what density of the image density.
