1,240,976. Electric couplings. AMP Inc. 23 March, 1970 [18 April, 1969], No. 13985/70. Heading H2E. An electrical terminal comprises a crimping ferrule 4, located within a metal sleeve 2, and a conical funnel either separate from or integral with the sleeve 2, the narrow end of the funnel being disposed within an end 8 of the ferrule. An integral funnel is continuous with the sleeve 2 from the bent portion 9. A separate funnel 13 engages a serrated edge 10, adjacent portion 9, and may be of metal or synthetic resin, the resin providing a waterproof seal between the bared wire 12 and wire insulating sheath 11 when the terminal end, containing the ferrule and funnel, is crimped on to the wire end and insulating sheath. Annular grooves 7 in the ferrule and the serrated edge 10 aid retention of the wire within the terminal end. Two such terminal ends may be formed together to connect two wires together or one may be provided with a flat ring tongue 5. Insulation 3 covers the terminal end.
|
