A latch needle has a depression made in the side cheeks of the latch receiving slot 15 formed by pressing the portions of the side cheeks inwardly to form projections 23 which provide a stop for the latch in its closed position to relieve the wear on the spoon of the latch and tip of the hook. In addition the edges 30 of the depression are rounded and are clear of the latch as at 26 to avoid the latch shearing the yarn when in its closed position. |
