Exchangeable filter for fused metal consists of a porous ceramic plate which is sealed along the periphery by an elastic seal. The material of the latter swells when heated by the molten metal or when a preheated filter plate is applied to it. This material can be non-expanded vermiculite, hydrobiotite or tetrasilica-fluoro-mica with organic and/or inorganic binders.
