1,129,305. Valves. NIHON DENSHI K.K. 1 Nov., 1965 [31 Oct., 1964], No. 46231/65. Heading F2V. A rotary valve has a glass plate 1, Fig. 1, connected by screws 3 to a casing 2 and carrying four concentric and equally spaced sealing- assemblies 4a-4d ; a base member (6, Fig. 2, not shown) with an operating handle 5, Fig. 1, and a glass disc (7), is rotatable relative to the casing, the disc 7 embodying four ports in its upper face, pairs of ports being interconnected by a passage 18a and 18b in the disc. Each sealing assembly comprises a P.T.F.E. element 10 that engages the disc 7 through a " W " or " V "-section annular surface and is held in place by a threaded holder 11; the elements have bores therethrough which co-operate with the disc ports, the fluid passing from the elements through pipes 16c. The whole is retained by a central nut 9 and bolt 8, the adjustment of which urges the elements 10 into engagement with the disc 7; a P.T.F.E. thrust ring 17 is disposed between the casing and member 6. In another form, a single spring-loaded P.T.F.E. sealing assembly (27, Fig. 4, not shown) co-operates with a push-operated spring- urged axially-slidable glass-member 26 mounted on ball bearings 33 and having an outlet 31 which opens to one of two inlets 36a, 36b that at the sealing face of the assembly are surrounded by a " W " and a " V " sectioned annular surface, respectively. |
