The electromagnetic self-priming pump has a winding formed on a frame (3), which contains a tube (7), inside which there works a moving tubular core (14), the rear end of the tube being connected to the intake for the fluid. At the forward end is suction valve (18) subjected to constant spring pressure and accommodated in a sealed pressure chamber in a tubular body. At one end of the latter is a discharge valve (12) working in a chamber formed by a length of tube. A spring (15) acts between the tube (7) connected to the intake and the core, so as to hold the latter clear of the magnetic centre of the winding. When the latter is energised, the core is moved to and fro, acting as a piston discharging fluid from the pump.
