The beer cask, which has already been washed externally, is brought by a conveyor to the transverse conveyor. The cask takes up a fixed position and when it is gripped by the arm of the cask inverting mechanism. It is then in the position for washing internally. The cask is then rotated through 90 deg. It is held in this new position whilst the next cask is washed and then swung into a final position where it is filled with beer. This compact inverting mechanism allows the washing and filling stations to be close together and operating in the same plane for saving of space.
