PURPOSE:To prevent mis-copying and consequent waste of paper by detecting automatically an original size and selecting and setting automatically the copying magnification meeting the size of the paper according to the result of such detection. CONSTITUTION:The length of the original is known the value of a counter B built in a microcomputer 101 during the time when the original on an original feeder turns on a detector 51 and therefore the length is compared with the data on the original size prepd. in the ROM in the microcomputer 101. The size of the original is judged from the on-off state of a switch 105 for judging size which detects the transverse direction of the original size D and the code signal corresponding to the judged size is fed to a body control circuit 80. The copying operation is executed after the magnification meeting the paper size corresponding to the result of said original size is automatically set in an automatic magnification mode. The automatic magnification mode is not executed when the original feeder 30 is not used in such a state. A manual magnification setting mode is set when the magnification is set by a magnification setting key. The mis-copying and wasteful use of the paper are thus prevented. |
