PURPOSE:To obtain a photographic sensitive material especially excellent in gradation, and also superior in color developability, hue, image storage stability, etc., by incorporating monodispersed silver halide grains having a specified X-ray diffraction graph, an org. solvent having a specified dielectric constant and high b.p., and a specified phenol compd. CONSTITUTION:At least one silver halide emulsion layer contains the monodispersed silver halide grains having a [100] face and a [111] face, and ratio K of X-ray diffraction intensity S1 belonging to a [200] face/that S2 belonging to a face [222], that is, K=S1/S2, satisfying the following inequality, 3<=K<=600, and the org. solvent having, preferably, a dielectric constant of 6.0-20, and a b.p. of >=175 deg.C at normal pressure. The photographic sensitive material especially excellent in gradation is obtained by forming said layer and incorporating the phenol compd. represented by the formula in which each of R1-R4 is H, halogen, sulfo, or a monovalent org. group, or each may combine to form a ring. |
