PURPOSE:To enable the reduction in output current by a method wherein an inductance is connected in parallel with a discharge electrode tube, and this inductance and bias capacitors are put in parallel resonance, so that only noiseless discharge current can be supplied from the AC high voltage power source. CONSTITUTION:In the title device equipped with a discharge electrode tube consisting of a tubular dielectric electrode and metallic electrodes arranged so as to be opposed to each other in adhesion outside this dielectric electrode, the inductance 15 is connected in parallel with the discharge electrode tube 20. If the output voltage of the AC high voltage power source 5 has sinusoidal waves of angular frequency omega, the parallel admittance Y with by-pass capacitors Cs is: Y=omegaCs-1/omegaL in the case of the value L of the inductance 15.
