An anti-theft device 10 for a bicycle of conventional design, which device has a lock 16 which can be fixedly mounted on the bicycle and whose locking latch 18 locks, in the locked state, into a part which is forcibly moved in relation to the lock 16 during travel mode, is to be constructed in such a way that it fulfills high safety requirements, does not interact with sensitive parts of the bicycle and, at the same time, is low in weight and neat in appearance. To this end, the lock 16 is arranged in the upper end region of the frame tube 12 which is penetrated by the steering column 14 and, in the locked state, blocks, by means of the locking latch 18, the relative movement between steering column 14 and frame. <IMAGE>
