PURPOSE:To improve the durability of a work roll and the productivity of a device by installing a grinding means turnable in a horizontal plane and arranging a free cushion head and a fixed one. CONSTITUTION:A work roll grinding means 22 is installed turnably in a horizontal plane around the vertical axes of pins 25, 26 as well as movably in the radial direction of a work roll 1, and is enabled to move close to or away from the surface of roll 1 in the direction perpendicular to said surface. A free cushion head 28a is provided to one side face of a supporting bed 24 and a fixed cushion head 28b is provided to the other side face, and the axes 29, 30 of both heads contact the projected parts 5a, 5b of a roll chock 5 respectively. By this mechanism, the means 22 turns horizontally with the roll 1 in one body to grind the whole width of roll. Accordingly, the durability of roll 1 and the productivity of the device are improved. |
