The invention relates to a door actuating device for sliding doors with internal and external buttons fastened in the body in each case. Door opening devices with a vertical handle which acts on a contact which initiates opening are known. If there is insufficient auxiliary energy, the door is to be opened by pulling the handle with considerable force. Furthermore, push buttons for normal operation are known, while emergency unlocking is carried out by means of a special lever. The object of the invention is to optimise and make uniform the two actuating systems. This object is achieved in that each button has, besides an electrical signal transmitter for closing the door, a large-surface recessed grip which initiates an electrical signal transmitter for opening the door in a first actuating position and which disengages the door lock via a Bowden cable in a second actuating position which can be reached by exertion of greater force. <IMAGE>
