<p>Method for sepg. and recovery of elementary sulphur, from gas contg. SO2 or SO2 and H2S is claimed in which the SO2 or the SO2 + H2S in the gas is absorbed in a purifying soln. contg. sulphide such that the pH of the soln. is 2.5-5 or so that the redox potential is -70 to -260 mV wrt. a calomel electrode. The resultant soln. is fed into an autoclave where the cpds. contained in the soln. are reacted at an elevated temp. so that the products are molten elementary sulphur and a soln. of sulphate which is regenerated into sulphide in known manner and returned to the absorption stage.</p> |
