An articulator for the preparation of a dental prosthesis is provided with a mandibular model (7) and a maxillary model (6) which are fastened on model support plates (3, 9) and are arranged so as to be movable relative to one another on a frame having a base plate (1). The maxillary model (6) is firmly located directly or via a model support plate (3) on an upper part of the frame connected to the base plate (1) via supports (2). The mandibular model (7) is movably connected with a frame part, and an upwardly projecting guide arm (10) whose upper end is guided in a joint trough (15) firmly located on a frame part is located on either side in the rear region of the mandibular model (7) or a model support plate (9) connected thereto. <IMAGE>
