<p>PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of detecting the residual quantity regardless of thickness of paper by calculating the residual quantity from the amount of drive of a driving source for moving up and down a stacking table for the number of separating and feeding paper in a paper residual quantity detecting device of a paper feeder of a printer or the like. CONSTITUTION:When paper 63 comes to 0, an end signal from a paper end detection switch is input to a control portion, and a table 66 is lowered until a lower limit switch 51 is turned on. When paper 63 is supplied, the control portion lifts up the table 66 until an upper limit switch is turned on, and the drive pulse at this time is counted to set supplied paper at the ratio of the number of specified paper sheets to pulse number. The amount of paper fed is calculated from the number of times of lifting up the paper feed table 66 for every paper feeding. The control portion compensates for the number of paper sheets supplied from the up-and-down frequency of a designated tray, and the ratio of the number of paper sheets to pulse number, and calculates a difference between the number of paper sheets supplied and the number of paper sheets fed to find the residual quantity and display same. This arrangement can improve the residual quantity detection accuracy.</p> |
