PURPOSE:To detect abnormality of motor quickly thus to improve safety by providing abnormality detecting means for monitoring whether a motor for driving steering ratio modifying system is normal on the basis of control signal. CONSTITUTION:On the basis of a car speed signal from a car speed sensor 6, control means F will transmit excitation signal of respective phase to motor drive section 40. The motor drive section 40 will rotate a step motor 36 by predetermined step through said signal. Respective phase monitoring signal for detecting whether respective phase has been excited in accordance to the exciting signal is fedback to abnormality detection circuit 41 in controller F. The abnormality detecting circuit 41 will match said excitation signal with said monitoring signal and in case of unmatch, an electromagnetic switch 64 is turned off to interrupt the motor drive section 40 from the power source 32. |
