In a liquid/liquid chromatography or extraction p4rocess the mobile phase (2) is injected in the column with the stationary phase (1) at such a speed (40/80 cm/sec.) that at the entry (3) a continuous stream (13) is formed which disintegrates into droplets (14). This permits larger tubes (5) to be used. Their inner diameter B should have a ratio to the length C of 1:30 to 1:70. The entry diameter D should be less than B/2.
