Process and reactor for carrying out an endothermic reaction

A process for carrying out an endothermic reaction is disclosed, in which a charge is dehydrogenated over a catalyst and the catalyst, which has been deactivated by carbon deposits, is exothermically regenerated. In order to provide the necessary amount of heat economically and inexpensively for the endothermic reaction, it is proposed to supply the heat liberated during the catalyst regeneration to the dehydrogenation process by means of a heat transfer medium.
