A zero insertion force connector is provided with a housing and a latching member rectilinearly displacable with respect to the housing. A circuit board, receivable within the housing, is displaced with respect thereto from an initial to a final position in which the board abuts against a predetermined abutment surface on the housing. As the board is displaced, the final position of the board engages against a resilient contacting member which is successively urged in a first wiping direction across the conduction stripe on the board and thereafter, into a counter backwiping direction along the stripe.
