PURPOSE:To prevent the decrease in the potential holding power by preexposure by decreasing the quantity of light of a preexposure lamp according to the number of copies. CONSTITUTION:A preexposure adjusting plate 6 made into an arc or cylindrical shape is provided so as to enclose the preexposure lamp 2 and the plate 6 is rotated via a decelerating mechanism 8 by a motor M disposed to the outside of a lamp housing 3. The aperture of the plate 6 opens to a max. degree when a copying start button is pushed. The aperture of the plate 6 is then gradually throttled according to the number of copies and the quantity of the light irradiated from the lamp 2 on a photosensitive body 1 is decreased.
