In summary, the features of the single cotter pin are represented such that by means of a simple design, the use of a small number of simple preliminary materials, and exhaustion of all the advantages of mass production, a simple cotter pin has been invented which satisfies all the preconditions relating to security. As a further invention, it should particularly be noted that the guide handles 5 and 6 are incorporated directly into the cotter pin 1 in a split manner or integrally. Irrespective of whether the handle guides 5 and 6 are designed to be straight or to have a circular curve, they are held directly in the cotter pin 1.
