The invention is a novel flat-bed printing forme for the plate cylinder of an offset printing machine, which forme, in terms of layer structure, is of extremely simple design and, with little effort, can be brought to a state suitable for the offset process. It is designed as a conventional metal paper or a metal foil, an aluminium layer having a layer thickness of less than 1 mu m being provided which is preferably vapour-deposited onto an image-differentiated, oleophilic base layer serving as text carrier. The hydrophilisation of the aluminium layer forming the non-printing regions is effected by treatment with an inorganic acid, preferably with dilute phosphoric acid (H3PO4).
