The new submerged lance is distinguished by the fact that arranged in the lance tube is a feed screw which is connected via a shaft to a drive. The lance tube can also be connected at the top to a weighing device. A significant advantage obtained is that trouble-free continuous delivery of solids into a metal melt is possible without a high outlay. In this arrangement, the delivery rate can be varied by way of the variable speed of rotation of the drive. Different solids can be delivered as desired, without interruption. The solid to be added can also be weighed.
